brought to you through the cooperative efforts of The Disciple,
the magazine of Disciples' news and views, the youth ministries
offices of Homeland Ministries, and the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ). |

The Christian Church Foundation
undergirds ministry with permanent funds. It
works with individuals and congregations to
manage funds that benefit various ministries
of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ). |

The National Convocation of the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ)
supports and strengthens the involvement of
more than 550 predominantly African American
Disciples congregations in the total mission
of the church. |

Through the
Division of Overseas Ministries,
over 200 missionaries, associates, and
volunteers serve in 50 countries. Programs
in mission include: education, healthcare,
community development, empowerment of women,
evangelism, human rights, refugee
assistance, disaster response, new church
development, and ministries to, and on
behalf of children. |

The
National Benevolent Association
is the
Disciples' social and health services arm,
which touches the lives of more than 30,000
persons each year with care, counseling,
shelter and a variety of related services. |

The
Pension Fund
supports congregations by providing an
excellent pension plan that has increased
contractual pensions by 528.71% since 1973.
It also has health care insurance, savings
programs and tax information for both lay
and clergy employees. |

Church Extension
works directly with congregations, helping
them recover from disasters, expand their
facilities or build new buildings. It also
helps the church grow through its
New Church Ministry Team. |

The
Disciples of Christ Historical Society
helps
congregational historians, assists scholars,
sponsors lectures and maintains archives of
a wide variety of historical materials and
artifacts related to the Stone-Campbell
movement. |

The
Division of Higher Education --
The
Division of Higher Education seeks to
nurture transforming leadership for the
church. We work in partnership with 17
colleges and universities, 10 theological
institutions, and more than 80 campus
ministry programs across the country. |

The Council on Christian Unity
represents the Disciples in key ecumenical
activities around the world, carrying out
the Disciples historical passion for
Christian unity. |

The Church Finance Council
enables the sharing of God's gifts by
telling the Good News of Disciples common
ministries, building relationships between
congregations and the larger mission of the
church and providiing faithful
administration of the church-wide funding
strategies and resources. CFC administers
Disciples Mission Fund. |

Reconciliation
is a special
ministry of the general church which fights
the primary causes of racism in North
America. It works with regions and
congregations to understand what racism is,
and to find ways to identify and eliminate
it. |

The Central Pastoral Office for Hispanic
Ministryies
facilitates,
promotes, supports and coordinates the work
of Hispanic ministries in the whole church.
The Rev. Pablo A. Jimenez, national
Hispanic pastor, serves the
whole church, more than 80 established
Hispanic Disciples congregations, and a
rapidly growing number of congregations in
development. |

Pacific Asian Disciples (NAPAD) |

The Office of
North American Pacific Asian Disciples (NAPAD)
serves the growing American Asian church.
The
Rev. Geunhee Yu, executive pastor for
North American Asian Ministries serves the
whole church, and this group works to
coordinate the issues and needs of the
diverse Asian and Pacific Islander
community. |

The United Christian
Missionary Society |
|
The
United Christian Missionary Society,
which has eight Trustees and four Officers,
has no active employees. Four Trustees are
nominated by each of the two Divisions. They
are elected by the General Board of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and
serve a term of four years. In 1993, The
UCMS contracted with the Christian Church
Foundation of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) to perform the
treasury services for the Society. |
